From a passionate art glass hobbiest in 2001 I have since achieved a BA Honours First Class Art & Design and Commended in the Neues Glas, New Graduate Review in 2021. As a glass artist I specialise in painted stained glass panels, seeking to capture the translucence of glass and its unique ability to work with light to transmit colour. While my designs are influenced by the styles of the Pre-Raphaelite and art nouveau periods, I generate contemporary themes through my exploration and investigations into environmental, historical and theological themes. My research allows me to identify specific subjects to explore shape and colour in a manner that allows the properties of the glass to enhance the design. I enhance the individual qualities of hand-blown glass by etching with hydrochloric acid and detail using traditional glass paints, stains and enamels, layering numerous firings to create depth and form that captures likeness and realism, particularly important when executing figurative pieces. I elevate my designs by incorporating digital methodologies and warm glass enhancements. I work closely with my clients to ensure the piece delivers their vision while creating a highly personal and involved work that the client has a connection with.
