What’s On Criteria

What are the criteria for listing an event or class?

Craft Scotland list events or classes which showcase, demonstrate or teach contemporary craft. Events should be run by, exhibit the work of, or have a strong connection to at least one professional maker who is producing work that meets our funding remit. Events may also be endorsed or run by a professional organisation that supports makers. Classes and courses should create opportunities for participants to meaningful engage with craft and/or enhance the craft skills of those participating, as well as other benefits like health and wellbeing.

What kind of events do you accept?

Craft Scotland only list events that fit our accepted craft disciplines. Whilst we will consider mixed events and exhibitions, we cannot list events which purely relate to fine art, painting, drawing, illustration and printing on paper, photography, stationery, taxidermy, candle, soap or cake making, or jewellery made by the assembly of bought in materials.

What’s On Terms

What is the Craft Scotland What’s On listings?

What’s On is a hand-picked list of craft events, exhibitions, classes and courses taking place in Scotland. The individual listings direct our website visitors to places they can see and buy high-quality craft, meet makers, learn about, participate in and engage with craft. We also publicise classes run by professional makers with the aim of developing participants’ understanding of craft and supporting makers to make additional income.

How do I add an event to the Craft Scotland What’s On listings?

To add a listing you need to fill in the Submit an Event online form via Get Involved. How long will it take my listing to appear on the What’s On listings?

Once submitted, we review every event uploaded to the Craft Scotland website. If eligible, we aim to add your listing to the site within 14 working days.

Will my event appear on your site exactly as I have submitted it?

Your event will first be reviewed against the Terms & Conditions, and we may edit it for spelling, grammatical or other purposes. See our Terms & Conditions page for the full information on user-generated listings.

If you have a Maker or Craft Directory profile in our Directory, this listing will also appear on your profile once approved.
