Behind the Scenes at Nielanell

Founded by Niela Nell Kalra in 2008 in Hoswick, Nielanell has since expanded into a worldwide market. Hear some of the stories behind her contemporary designs, which have unexpected origins and interesting use of colour and texture.

She’ll chat about the challenges and benefits of designing and making in rural Shetland. Peeking behind the scenes, on a tour of the studio and workshop, look at various stages of the design and manufacturing processes.

In Hoswick you’ll also find a café, creative businesses and historical nooks to explore. It’s a great spot for birdwatching and close by the studio there’s an interesting beach – wonderful for beachcombing.

This event is part of Shetland Wool Week (27 Sept – 3 Oct).
