Think of the metal as your canvas, ready to be drawn on. You will use various steel punches which will be hammered into the metal to create your design. These techniques can be applied to anything from small jewellery pieces to larger forms, offering endless creative possibilities.
You’ll start with the basics of chasing. You’ll learn how to transfer your design onto copper sheet, mount your work in pitch, and use a variety of punches to create lines, marks, and textures. From there, you can begin experimenting — building patterns, illustrations, or abstract designs. You'll also have the option to explore repoussé, sculpting your piece from the reverse side to add depth and three-dimensional form.
No previous experience is needed — just a willingness to experiment and explore. All tools and materials will be provided.
