A unique 4-day mosaic workshop inspired by geology, co-tutored by Joanna Kessel and Helen Bodycomb, designed specifically for James Hutton’s celebratory anniversary. Whilst the workshop is inspired by geology they have designed it to be an exciting creative exploration suitable for all levels of experience. Participants will be encouraged to develop creative designs informed by marks, colours and patterns found in stone as well as the irregular lines and striations of unconformity and intrusions illustrated in the geological prints by John Clerk of Eldin.

The workshop will include;
- A guided visit to the Earth Systems archive at the National Museum of Scotland, where you’ll have the chance to view stunning rock samples and consider what shaped the earth beneath our feet.

- An evening talk by Scottish mosaicist, Dugald MacInnes, who’ll share how his passion for geology and Scottish slate informed his mosaic artworks.

- Angus Miller, local geologist and owner of Geowalks, will present an illustrated talk about the significance of Hutton’s discovery of Unconformity at the nearby (world renowned) Siccar Point.
