Cyan Clayworks is a social enterprise and ceramic studio run by artists Fiona Thompson and Chris Donnelly. This course is aimed at new adult learners who would like an overview of working with clay. You will learn the basics of working with clay at different stages, and by the end of the course have a range of individual pieces.

Through the four weeks, you will be introduced to various approaches to making ceramics by hand. Different kinds of hand-building will be covered such as building pots with slabs and using simple press moulds, and an introduction to wheel throwing. There will also be an emphasis on surface decoration; creating colour, texture and pattern with slips and glazes. Each process will be demonstrated at the start of the class, then you will be guided into creating a piece of your own design.
