Introduction to Mould Making and Casting

Creating a complex original ceramic piece can be a time consuming process, to repeat the same structure slows this process down even further. Creating moulds and slip casting speeds up the reproduction process and allows more time for artistic experimentation.

What to Expect

- Introduction to mould making and different types of mould, mixing and pouring plaster.
- Making a sprig-mould, scratch block and stamps.
- Creating a textured clay panel and taking a plaster cast to make a simple press mould/mould of a tile. Introduction to making a simple two or three-part mould from a found object.
- All materials and tools are provided but feel free to bring any favourite tools.
