In this one-day workshop, you’ll create a picassiette/mixed-media mosaic for your home or garden (you might even be able to make two, depending on the complexity of your design). “Picassiette” or “pique assiette” (a French term meaning “stolen from plate”) incorporates pieces of broken pottery, bone china, plates, cups, bowls, tiles, shells, and other discarded items in your work. Rhona also will open up her stocks of high-quality stained glass, mosaic tiles and gems for you to incorporate too. We encourage you to bring along any bone china that you’d like to incorporate into your design – Rhona will be able to advise you about its suitability for outdoors. Choose your own motif to work from, it can be anything that inspires you … a house number, a favourite flower, an initial or something else – you choose! The workshop is suitable for both beginners and intermediate levels. So whether you’re brand new to mosaics, or if you’ve been to a previous workshop and would like to further develop your skills, you’re very welcome!
