Rhys Jones: Visiting Furniture Designer/ Maker Presentation

In his presentation - ‘Rethinking the Folding Lounge: Modernity through Craft’ Rhys Jones will share the story behind his recent work Gesto Armchair — building on the approach of Scandinavian modernism by exploring the possibilities of contemporary materials and technologies. Rhys is a designer-maker working at the intersection of studio craft, industrial design, and architecture. He studied wood furniture at the ANU School of Art, Canberra, Australia and architecture at the University of Melbourne and ETH Zurich. His practice positions making as a mode of inquiry, exploring the relationship between theory and practice, hand and machine, and society and self.
