Stained Glass Residency

RDW Glass are delighted to launch a new three-week Stained Glass Residency from 7–28 September 2026 in Glasgow’s East End. Led by glass artists Keira McLean and Richard Welsh, the residency invites artists from all backgrounds to explore stained glass as a storytelling medium within a supportive working studio environment.

Participants will gain hands-on experience across all aspects of stained-glass practice, including design, painting, leading, soldering, repair and restoration, copper foiling and glass fusing. The first week focuses on intensive technical training, while the second encourages self-directed experimentation and development of personal projects. In the final week, artists will collaborate on a stained-glass panel exploring Glasgow’s social history, from initial cartoon design through to installation.

Alongside studio learning, participants will join site visits, installations and repairs. The residency aims to celebrate overlooked histories, preserve endangered craft skills and foster a diverse creative community.
