Meet the Inches Carr Craft Bursary 2026 Recipients

Established MakerElizabeth Jane Campbell

Elizabeth Jane Campbell is an award-winning jeweller and enameller. She creates statement jewellery and small-scale objects inspired by visual literacy and colour theory. Using vitreous enamel enables her to achieve fantastic colours which are often contrasted with simple oxidised silver settings. Elizabeth graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2013 and spent a year as Artist in Residence at The Glasgow School of Art before establishing her own studio in Edinburgh. She has pieces in the permanent collections of the National Museum of Scotland and The Goldsmiths’ Company, London.

Elizabeth will use the Inches Carr Craft Bursary to explore the use of alternative materials alongside vitreous enamel and to undertake training in finishing glass.

Established MakerOlumide Emmanuel Faleti

Olumide Emmanuel Faleti’s practice in traditional shoemaking and leathercraft combines hand craftsmanship, contemporary design and cultural storytelling. Influenced by his Nigerian heritage, Olumide’s work explores how a traditionally made shoe can communicate identity, heritage and individual expression. He enjoys the precision of shoemaking and exploring the ability of leather to develop character through use. Through his footwear company Minuel Designs, Olumide has developed collections that have been presented at platforms including Africa Fashion Week London and Sunderland Fashion Show.

He will use the Inches Carr Craft Bursary to deepen his technical knowledge through specialist one-to-one training and mentorship with a master bespoke shoemaker, examining how traditional shoemaking knowledge can be preserved, adapted and passed on to future generations.

Established MakerAlis Le May

Alis Le May’s practice sits between textile art, costume and bespoke tailoring. She uses traditional hand skills to explore relationships between cloth, place and the natural world. Working with wool, silk, linen, natural dyes and locally gathered flora, she uses techniques including hand sewing, quilting, tailoring and the preservation of flowers within translucent layers of cloth. Making slowly by hand is central to Alis’ practice. She is interested in how old skills and locally rooted materials can create work that belongs very specifically to a place, imagining new traditions rather than simply reproducing those of the past.

Alis will use the Inches Carr Craft Bursary to undertake a residency at Cove Park, further developing her techniques for preserving flora within fabric and bringing this into conversation with her research into British wool and natural dyes.

Emerging MakerCamille Biddell

Camille Biddell is a ceramicist making contemporary slipware that playfully straddles function and decoration. Before taking form, the terracotta slabs that make up her hand-built pieces are embossed with found textures and motifs and decorated with colourful slip. Camille graduated with an MA in Fine Art from Edinburgh College of Art in 2018 and later spent two formative years in Stoke-on-Trent as a student at Clay College.

She will use the Inches Carr Craft Bursary to develop more complex mould-making methods that will allow her to work with texture at a larger scale.

Emerging MakerLaura Cruikshank

Laura Cruikshank is an Edinburgh-based jeweller who follows a ‘thinking through making’ approach, allowing the rhythms of observing, drawing, collecting and making to overlap. Interested in traditional skills and working with precious metals, she combines processes such as casting, chain fabrication and filigree, resulting in contemporary, wearable compositions. Laura studied Jewellery and Metal Design at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design. She was awarded Bronze in the Wire Innovation category from the Goldsmiths Craft & Design Awards 2026.

Laura will use the Inches Carr Craft Bursary to build her core skills through expert tuition and to introduce the new skill of stone setting into her practice.

Emerging MakerMilitsa Milenkova

Metalsmith Militsa Milenkova is interested in overlooked everyday objects. Her work questions ideas of value and function, exploring subjects including memory and migration. Militsa’s process is hands-on and experimental. She uses a hydraulic press to compress metal, which folds, buckles and softens into organic forms, each press producing a different result. Militsa has a BA in Silversmithing & Jewellery from Glasgow School of Art and was the Designer of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games Medals.

She will use the Inches Carr Craft Bursary to develop her practice through a period of material research and technical experimentation.
