Do you want to consider selling outside the UK or already exporting and want to grow your business? This workshop, over two sessions, will cover advice on how to develop into overseas markets and importantly how to access such markets by selling online.
Session 1: Craft Exporting Advice
This is a great opportunity for you to network with other like-minded makers in Scotland.You will also hear from SDI International specialists from the Export Advisory Service. They will highlight the best ways to develop your business internationally. If you’re getting ready for a trade show or just back from one, the ideas you will learn here will help you maximise your trip.
Jewellery maker Carla Edwards will also be talking about her own experiences of tackling the export market. Carla designs and makes contemporary resin jewellery from her workshop in Leith, Edinburgh. A graduate of Edinburgh College of Art in Applied Art and Design, Jewellery and Silversmithing she is an established sole trader with a wide range of stockists and an international presence. She has been part of Craft Scotland retail/trade shows in Philadelphia and Baltimore as well as exhibiting at NYNow and various exhibitions across the UK.
Session 2: How To Increase Your International Sales Online
Get practical support to start selling internationally or increase your UK and international sales through your Ecommerce website. This highly interactive workshop will show you ways to win more international business over the web, develop your digital skills and knowledge to create an action plan for success.
Whilst sales are obviously the number one goal, international Ecommerce can also help your professional practice in other ways. International Ecommerce can help you raise brand awareness, gain a presence in other countries and test the water without major investment.
You will learn how to:
gain more international enquiries and customers through your website and digital channels
develop an appropriate digital strategy to grow your international business
focus on international customer needs and improve your sites international profile
improve your websites ranking in international search engines and find out how search engine optimisation (SEO) and social media works in different countries
address language considerations and learn how to localise your website
use free tools to assess and validate market opportunities
get practical support on using the best channels to target those markets
