Created to encourage experimentation and discovery, the award supports makers based in Scotland at any stage in their contemporary craft career.

We are inviting proposals from makers who want to make new work that explores ideas involving new materials or processes.

Applying

You should demonstrate clearly how the award would nurture your future development. If you would like to develop a particular technique, project, collection or product tell us how receiving the Jorum Craft Award would help you to achieve your goal. Learn more about the previous Jorum Craft Award recipients here.

Jorum is an independent Scottish fragrance house originally founded in 2009 by perfumer Euan McCall, dedicated to modern, high-quality scents that blend classical techniques with innovative, in-house production. They elevate fragrance as a true craft, emphasising ethical sourcing, natural materials, and storytelling.

Award details 

• One award is available of up to £2,000
• Only one applicant will be selected to win the award

Award requirements over a 6–12-month period:

• We ask awardees to complete a sketchbook (images, writing, drawing etc.) documenting their creative process
• We ask you to agree to provide feedback to Craft Scotland on how the award has helped you develop your creative practice

Craft Scotland will be in touch to confirm whether you have been successful by the end of November 2026. 

Eligibility 

• Professional makers, living and working in Scotland
• Applicants should be working in one or more of Craft Scotland’s eligible disciplines
• All work should be the design of the maker and made by the maker (or small-batch production under their direct supervision) 
• All work must reflect excellence and the unique vision of its maker, be well-conceived and skilfully made 
• Previous Jorum Craft Award unsuccessful applicants are welcome to reapply 
• Previous successful recipients of the Jorum Craft Award are not eligible to reapply  

Criteria 

• Applicants should be able to demonstrate how their proposal will nurture their future development
• The amount applied for should be up to £2,000 
• Applicants should be able to provide a brief budget breakdown of how the award will be spent*

*for example, a budget might list the approximate costs of things like:

• A new way of working with materials you currently use or using the funds to purchase materials in a way that supports a more ambitious scale of work
• Materials to experiment with towards a new way of practicing your craft
• Specialist tools or equipment
• Ingredients to test a new technique or process
• Guidance from an expert in how to employ a new technique or process
• Workshop hire to try out a specialist process for example a type of kiln, welding tool or casting machine
