Call for Entries: CGS Exhibition 2025 at Pyramid Gallery, York

The Contemporary Glass Society (CGS) is pleased to announce that its 2025 exhibition at Pyramid Gallery, York, will focus on the evocative and timeless theme of The Four Seasons. This new direction reflects a strong desire among CGS members for a theme rich in colour, pattern, nature, and artistic tradition.

This year’s theme is particularly poignant, marking the 300th anniversary of Antonio Vivaldi’s iconic composition The Four Seasons, a piece that continues to resonate across artistic disciplines. The theme invites glass artists to explore the changing seasons, the natural rhythms of the year, and the symbolic passage of time.

UK-based CGS members are invited to submit work that draws on the emotional and visual language of Vivaldi’s score, the distinct characteristics of each season, and the interplay of colour, light, and form. This exhibition provides an opportunity to reflect the personal or universal symbolism of seasonal change through glass.

Submission Guidelines

• Eligibility: Open to CGS members based in the UK only
• Work: Up to three pieces, or a series of small works (one form per piece)
• Medium: At least 50% glass; created after 1 January 2021
• Sales: All work must be for sale
• Display: Wall- and plinth-based works accepted
• Durability: Must withstand heat and light, as environmental conditions cannot be controlled
• Delivery: Selected works must be delivered by 1st September 2025
• Returns: Unsold work will be returned by the end of November 2025

Selection Process

A selection panel, including Terry Brett (CGS Board Member) and an invited independent artist, will curate a diverse range of submissions showcasing a variety of glassmaking techniques. Successful applicants will be notified by 30th June 2025.
