Strata 3

Strata 3 is part of my continued exploration of layered rock formations. This sculpture is carved by hand from locally sourced Scottish Douglas fir, with each element selected to maintain continuity across the form. The surface is brushed and burnished with natural earth pigments and graphite, creating tones of weathered stone. This work reflects my interest in the compacted and fractured character of stratified rock and its varied colours.
