Alexander Johnston is a cabinetmaker and sculptor based in Glasgow. His work reflects a deep respect for the craft of furniture making, grounded in traditional hand skills, honest joinery, and quality materials. While the construction of his work is informed by this training, its sculptural forms are shaped by the natural environment. Johnston draws inspiration from the weathered surfaces, fracture lines, and layered structures of sea cliffs and standing stones. Through carving, he explores themes of compression, erosion, and time, seeking parallels between the forces that shape the landscape and those embedded within timber.
