Weavers Rudi Richardson, Louise Trotter and Ben Hymers will be joined by curator Kate Grenyer in a demonstration and discussion of how the Tapestry Studio’s recent artworks have been commissioned and created. They will discuss their lives in tapestry, from apprenticeships and art college to the artists they have collaborated with, and, in a guided tour of the Daughters of Penelope display, they will discuss the inspiration they take from the programme of exhibitions at Dovecot that aim to increase understanding and appreciation of art, craft and design.
The event starts at 2pm with tea and coffee plus a tapestry weaving demonstration in the Dovecot South Gallery. The talk follows at 2.30pm and lasts for approximately 90 minutes including an opportunity to ask questions. The event ends with a tour of the Daughters of Penelope exhibition, when the weavers and curator will highlight particular works relating to Dovecot’s practice.
