Intermediate Garden Mosaics

Rhona Duffy will give you an overview of her technique, substrates and fixings. She’ll also discuss the practices and techniques she favours in her work. In addition, she’ll explain the Roman rules of mosaic and the benefits of incorporating them into your work, including an overview of the ones she uses and why, and she’ll guide you on considerations for colour and tonal choices in your work. You’ll then take time to complete your design, planning and preparing your substrate, before beginning work. Rhona will help you enhance your design, cutting (of glass, ceramics, tiles, stained glass etc), and application skills. You’ll learn about the materials, substrates, adhesives and grout that are suitable for exterior mosaics, plus you’ll practise using different tools to cut mosaics and glass, some of which you may not have used before.
