Introduction to Lapidary

The Scottish Mineral & Lapidary club is Britain's oldest lapidary club. They offer a weekend workshop where trainees can gain practical experience cutting, shaping and polishing semi precious stones. Attendees will be given full training by experienced instructors at a ratio of 2 trainees per instructor. Day 1 involves cutting, shaping and polishing a practice stone into a cabochon with full instruction and close surpervision. Day 2 involves the creation of an apprentice piece with minimal instruction. All overalls, materials and training manual are supplied. 3 months temporary membership is also included. Courses are held in January, April, October and December.
