Using simple everyday tools, Sally of Littlehouse Jewellery guided you through essential metal working techniques to create leaves with unique textures and details. WorkshopEmboss a Copper Tile with Bryony Knox

Particpants made their own embossed copper tile with silversmith Bryony Knox. Bryony guided students through designing a simple motif based on the structural elements of autumnal grasses and foliage.

Inspired by stories and myths of birds and animals, Bryony’s work blends storytelling with function. This talk explored how ideas become finished pieces, the importance of interaction with her objects, and craft becoming part of daily rituals around the home. Attendees were also invited to handle finished objects, see works in progress and ask questions.

WorkshopMake Your Own Upcycled Fabric Rope Basket with Eilidh Weir

Particpants brought their own fabric scraps or used the materials provided to create an upcycled fabric rope basket with Eilidh Weir. Eilidh creates textile works, sculptural pieces and objects with reused fabrics, plants, and repurposed plastics. This class was specifically designed to tackle the increasing global environmental problem of textile waste.

Centered on a collection of tableware developed for Art Farm and specifically, The Fish Shop Ballater and Washington, this talk explored how Kevin's stoneware pieces reflected HARVEST’s themes of hospitality and conviviality. From slip-casting to wood firing with oyster shells, Kevin Andrew Morris discussed his craft process and innovative methods with natural materials.

WorkshopJapanese Stab Bookbinding with Cassandra Barron

Participants learnt the skill of Japanese stab bookbinding, a method of stitching single sheets of paper together characterised by an exposed spine with decorative stitch patterns. Guided by Cassandra Barron, who created artists books inspired by nature and botanicals.

WorkshopMake Your Own Leather Purse with Jude Gove

Using repurposed leather, pure wool felt and brass fittings, participants learnt how to make their own leather coin and card purse. Led by experienced designer/maker Jude Gove, who creates individually designed and handcrafted leather and pure wool felt accessories.

Ross Baynham of Studio Teller explored the making of the Low Sofa, reflecting on how his experience in making kitchens informs his approach to bespoke furniture. Ross shared how the design evolved, from initial concepts and choosing Scottish-grown timber, to tackling the practical and aesthetic challenges of producing a refined piece within a tight timeframe.

Attendees discovered the process and techniques behind Louise Bennetts textile works, from cushions created with Scottish mill-waste to window hangings inspired by Edinburgh architecture. Louise shared raw materials, samples, and techniques, including cold-water dyeing, to illustrate how discarded fragments are transformed into new designs.

WorkshopWeave a Willow Square Platter with Anna Liebmann
10am - 1pm, Thursday 16 October 2025
Particpants of this workshop could weave their own willow square platter with basketmaker Anna Liebmann, suitable for holding a pot or using as a tray. Anna grows eight types of willow, of different colours, hues and elasticity, to create her intricate baskets and forms.

Participants wove their own small rug from washed sheep's fleeces sourced from local farms in Aberdeenshire. Marguerite Fleming of Westfield Croft taught the group about the tools to use, how to string the loom, and weave with different fleeces.

Participants made a selection of buttons using a range of crochet stitches in this free workshop with award-winning textile maker Maija Nygren. Maija brought expertise as a knit technician, engineering knitwear for luxury brands, as well as her own unique designs.
