Have your views heard on the potential for a Cultural Exports Office for Scotland.
Closing date: 28 Feb 2026
The Scottish Government is reviewing the potential for development of a Scottish Cultural Export Service. An initial survey to gather feedback from the arts sector is being led by the British Council and Creative Services who are keen to hear views from across the whole of Scotland, different career stages and practices. This will inform a report to government.
A Cultural Export Service could for example, support economic development for individuals and organisations wanting to sell objects or develop international markets, or it could be focussed on cultural diplomacy and “soft power” through activities such as touring exhibitions or exchange programmes, or it could combine both approaches.
The report is due in June 2026 so we encourage makers, craft professionals, organisations and craft businesses of any size to respond. We are also happy to forward any further information or feedback in addition to the survey direct to the researchers.
Please find the survey here https://app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk/s/qmu/cultural-export-british-council . The survey should take around 15 - 20 minutes to complete.
