Rothie - large scarf in Lambswool & Merino Boucle

The designs used in this piece are translations from traditional weave patterns swirled together in a way that would not be possible to weave on a loom. The use of Merino boucle, a difficult yarn to knit, to contrast with lambswool gives a subtle 3D effect and makes the product particularly light and warm.

Foglie Snood

This product - the snood - was the first craft knitted accessory I created around 2010. The product in many different patterns and colours is still my best selling item. My snood dimensions/construction has since been copied by many makers and companies - but my patterns and colour combinations are unique and always evolving. I first designed the Foglie [leaves] pattern in 2018.

Ogee - Chunky Snood

The chunky snood is a statement piece - a fashion accessory. The ogee pattern is rooted in ancient decorative arts and also has a retro early 70s feel about it. Combining 4 yarn colours gives the colour-ways subtle depth.

Grassland Cape

The Grassland pattern was designed in 2014 for my solo exhibition 'Before the Fall'. All the patterns in that exhibition were inspired by natural forms - trees, branches, leaves and in this case - grass. Grassland pattern works particularly well in the mini-cape product - the colours in this example are from 2022 range.

Dotty Snood & Chain Snood

These two classic snoods feature simple graphic patterns. Chain was designed in 2018 and Dotty in 2021. I like layering of patterns and found I liked these patterns together - I am working on a design for my 2023 range that combines these and other simple graphic motifs for larger scarves and wraps.

Eriskay Scarf

Eriskay pattern is inspired by traditional Nordic designs. As colour patterns these types of motifs were often just used in placements or used allover in stitch patterned fisherman's sweaters [plain and purl combinations in a single colour wool for 3D texture]. I created an allover pattern and used tones of similar colours to stripe. Some traditional Nordic weave designs were allover damask or jacquard textiles.

Florence Scarf

Florence scarf features a large 'daisy' motif inspired by old French damask motifs updated and rescaled to work in float jacquard knitting technique. I created the design in 2018 and revised/recoloured it for 2022.
