Natalie Baker is an Australian jewellery designer living in Scotland. Working from her studio in Glasgow, she produces sculptural but eminently wearable jewellery. Natalie studied Jewellery and 3D Object Design at Randwick TAFE in Sydney Australia and has been a full time maker since 2019.
Her work is informed by the visual language of hard edge painting, demonstrating a passion for colour, form and line. Inspiration also comes from man made structures and surfaces, each piece speaking of a keen interest in structural composition and material process.
Natalie’s jewellery is handmade from silver often combined with unusual materials like hand cut glass and polished concrete. Her distinctive work is crafted using her own unique method of inlaying the glass and concrete into recycled silver. Natalie is interested in the basic elemental quality of these materials which are often considered modern but in fact quite ancient. By embracing such unconventional materials, Natalie defies expectations, transcending their industrial origins and transforming them into unique wearable works of art.
