This course is an opportunity for those with enamelling experience to review and extend their current practice. Working within and around the techniques of champlevé, basse taille and cloisonné, on copper and silver, students will look at ways of mixing, layering, and juxtaposing colour. Exploring how texturing can be used to enhance the enamel, students will learn how to translate more advanced ideas into enamel.
Students are invited to bring pre-prepared items to be enamelled however the workshop will also offer students the time to simply experiment and learn new techniques with the aim of producing a series of enamel test pieces, and/or a simple finished piece of jewellery, such as earrings, or a pendant.
Day 1: Skills Tutorials – Elizabeth will present advanced enameling techniques through live demonstrations and presentations of a rich variety of samples. Students will experiment throughout the day.
Day 2: Design & Make – Students will have the chance to design and make finished sample pieces using the techniques that they have learned with Elizabeth and of course, she will be on hand to offer advice and expertise.
