Connections: Scottish Glass Society Annual Exhibition

Open daily from 11am–4pm, the exhibition brings together an inspiring and diverse selection of contemporary glass art created by artists working across Scotland and beyond.

Connections explores the many ways glass artists engage with place, heritage, community, and material. From bold sculptural forms to delicate stained glass, fused works, cast pieces, and experimental mixed‑media approaches, the exhibition celebrates the extraordinary breadth of Scotland’s glassmaking talent.

On Saturday 19 September and Sunday 20 September, the Scottish Glass Society will host live stained glass demonstrations within the Trades House. These sessions highlight stained glass as an at‑risk heritage craft, offering visitors a rare opportunity to witness traditional techniques of an at‑risk heritage craft, offering visitors a rare opportunity to witness traditional techniques up close and learn about the skills, precision, and cultural significance behind this historic art form.

“Stained glass is one of Scotland’s most beautiful and endangered crafts,” said a spokesperson for the Scottish Glass Society. “By demonstrating these techniques publicly, we hope to spark curiosity, inspire new makers, and strengthen appreciation for the craft’s place in our shared heritage.”

The SGS Annual Exhibition is open to all members, continuing the Society’s long tradition of inclusivity and artistic freedom. The 2026 exhibition promises a dynamic mix of emerging voices and established practitioners, each contributing their own interpretation of the theme Connections — whether through narrative, technique, material exploration, or personal story.

Visitors can expect a rich and varied display that reflects the evolving landscape of Scottish glassmaking, from contemporary innovation to deep-rooted craft traditions.
