In the majestic upper galleries of the Royal Scottish Academy, in Edinburgh, you will find Visual Arts Scotland annual exhibition ALIGHT.
Running from the Saturday 26 January until Friday 22 February 2019, you can explore the open submissions alongside a host of curated and invited elements.
Discover the Craft Scotland celebrates…wood showcase at ALIGHT. This is the third in the ongoing series of partnerships between Craft Scotland and Visual Arts Scotland, dedicated to exploring contemporary material practices and the creative energy that makers bring to different mediums.

This year Craft Scotland has chosen to explore wood through the diverse work of three makers: Charlotte Barker, Beth Legg and Naomi Mcintosh. Their work is presented alongside hirta, a modular structure that acts as a focus for discussion around materiality, design and making.

Exhibition highlights also include pieces by Ute Decker, a pioneer in ethical jewellery practice, on show alongside jewellers and silversmiths from the open submission. Look out for the four shortlisted makers for the Visual Arts Scotland: Inches Carr Mentoring Award. The four shortlisted artists for 2019 will showcase their award proposals alongside the work in progress of last years winner, Ffion Blench.
