Over eight weeks, you will learn basic carving techniques and gain an understanding of wood as a material. The course is physical, challenging and fun and will encourage participants to discuss their ideas in relation to what this age old technique has to offer today.
The course will introduce you to:
– Historical and contemporary examples of wooden sculpture
– Different carving techniques
– Hand tools and accessories used for wood carving including advice
– Sharpening, maintenance and health and safety
In the last session, participants will present and discuss their work with one another.
No prior experience required.
