Call for applications - The Cockpit Arts / The Arts Society Award

As a Social Enterprise, Cockpit Arts support talented makers by providing sponsored places at their incubators.

Closing date: 25 Jul 2019

Open to: a maker practicing a traditional craft that requires skills at risk of dying out.

Additional information: since 2012, the Award has been organised in conjunction with the Heritage Crafts Association

Cockpit Arts are delighted to announce the return of The Arts Society (formerly NADFAS) Award for 2019. Applications are invited for the Award which aim to support professional craftspeople working with traditional craft skills. Particular consideration will be given to crafts requiring skills at risk of dying out. Past Award winners include: Lucy McGrath, hand paper marbler, Laura Woodhouse, handweaver, Mariano Palencia Crespo, bespoke shoemaker and Meron Wolde, metal artist and bespoke jewellery designer. The Award recipient will be awarded £3,000 towards a place at Cockpit Arts for one year. To be supplemented with a £1,650 contribution from the successful applicant, payable over 12 months. The total sum (Award and additional contribution) is linked to the cost of the space and support services.

All Awards comprise business support provided by Cockpit Arts as well as subsidised studio space for one year.
