MERZ Stained Glass Course & Residency

Stained Glass course for artists with little or no experience of working with glass.

The course is for five-six artists with little or no experience of working with glass. The August course will be run by glass artist Keira McLean whose work has a social and historical character.

A collaborative residency at MERZ in South West Scotland throughout August 2024 for learning how to use stained glass, to bring a convergence of artistic practices together in the use and understanding of stained glass work.

The course is run by celebrated glass artist Keira McLean. Based around a ten day teaching programme with an initial week of intensive learning followed by weekly tuition and mentoring days across the remainder of the twenty eight day residency.

This project will include individual work but together focuses on celebrating the world’s first subscription libraries (built for lead miners in neighbouring Leadhills and Wanlockhead).

This is not a competitive application but MERZ would like to secure a complimentary range of art practices which together can collaborate and benefit from working in glass.
