Livid

Block printed textile. Soil Association approved ink on cotton dyed with red dock plant dye. Dye made from plants in the grounds of House For An Art Lover, Glasgow during a residency at Studio Pavilion. Grid motif initially developed in 2016 as part of a work depicting motion in the swimming pool. This print is part of my ongoing project –to create tangible movement within a static print.

Creeping Velvet

Block printed textile. Soil Association approved ink on cotton dyed with nettle plant dye. Dye made from plants in the grounds of House For An Art Lover, Glasgow during a residency at Studio Pavilion. Ribbon motif developed from research into the Bernat Klein online archive. Title adapted from audio accounts recalling velvet ribbon puckering and creeping within Klein's experimental woven tweeds.

A Walking Wench For Three Weeks (after Joyce Clissold)

Block printed and painted linen curtains. Part of a set of drapes made to fit around the architectural features of Sierra Metro Gallery, Edinburgh as part of the two-person exhibition 'SKU' with Morven Mulgrew. The title and form were inspired by the work of Joyce Clissold who ran the British block print workshop 'Footprints' from the 1933-1982.

Plant Web Splash

Block printed textile. Soil Association approved ink on linen. Plant Web Splash was made in tandem with the filmed work '...and the plants and the webs and the splashing' as part of a residency with TOAST in partnership with the Crafts Council. The print was produced by altering one of the motifs with a chop saw as the piece was printed left to right. The chop saw creates an interruption within the rhythms of the process whilst echoing the abrupt cut transitions in the film.

UvUVU/

Block printed curtains. Soil Association approved ink on organic cotton canvas. This print was made using four different print blocks. The motifs wiggle and wobble in and out of line, a record of every step walked.
