There are some objects that we keep safe, that we treasure far beyond their monetary or practical value: they are cherished because they bring back to us a time, a place, a person who has been significant in our lives. But mostly, they are kept in a drawer or cupboard or gather dust whilst sitting on a shelf. This course is an opportunity to honour or celebrate such objects through the process of making or adapting a book or box.
As you create a little 'world within' for your object, you will learn some of the construction skills associated with book-making and book-altering, including experimenting with paint, drawing, collage, text and stitch. If you want, you can bring a suitable poem to the workshop, or include a little story in your book or box - whatever you think will help to illustrate your theme.
This course does not require any prior experience.
