Cyan Clayworks is a friendly not-for-profit ceramic studio set up in 2012 by Fiona and Chris. This Tuesday evening course is suitable for complete (adult) beginners as well as those with a little prior experience who would like to refresh their skills. It is also an ideal follow-on course if you have been on one of the taster courses, as you will be able to learn further about working with the clay at the different stages and additional techniques.
Various approaches to working with clay will be introduced. This will include different kinds of handbuilding such as coil building and slab construction; wheelthrowing, and surface decoration with coloured slips and glazes, markmaking and simple monoprinting. Small class sizes plus two tutors running the course mean lots more input and more opportunity to develop at your own pace.
